Cultivation mode

Plantation : Indoor: Sow seeds 15-18 weeks before planting out, 2–3 seeds per plug, can be sown directly in final pots (4–6 seeds) or use a deep container to avoid disturbing the taproot. Barely cover. Light aid germination. Kept the temperature between 18-22 °C, germination takes around 14-20 days. Vernalization is not required for flowering. Outdoor: Direct sow for June-August into prepared seed beds, place in groups of 3–4 seeds, spaced 30–45 cm apart. Keep the strongest plant.

Soil : Indoor: A well-drained, porous sowing media is best to prevent overwatering. Outdoor: Well-drained soil.

Culturals practices : Grow the Kniphofia in full sun or part shade, moderate to regular water. Will tolerate wet soils in summer, in winter soil must be well-drained. Flowers open from bottom to top, changing colors as they age. Flowers the first year when started indoor. Cut the faded flowers to ensure a good rise of new flowers and cut back the foliage at the end of winter. Plants are heat tolerant and will resist deer and rabbits. Outdoor a fleece cover or mulch cover with straw (20 cm) is needed. In spring the plants start to grow at 12-15 °C and long day. A chilling period for flower initiation is not required, but with a chilling period the flowering is more uniform and fuller. High fertilization levels are required. Fertilize using a complete balanced fertilizer and calcium nitrate fertilizer. Do not fertilize after mid September.
