Cultivation mode

Plantation : Indoor: It is suggested to sow 6 weeks before planting outside. Sow at a temperature around 12-18 °C. Germination time is between 14-21 days. Outdoor: Seed in the fall, or in the spring, directly in place: Sow the perennial peas directly in place at the foot of a trellis in May-June or in September, in pockets (group of 2 or 3 seeds) at 2.5 cm deep. Leave a minimum distance of 30 cm between two pockets. When the seedlings have reached the second pair of leaves stage, cut off the end of each stem to promote branching.

Soil : Indoor: Well-drained, porous seedling soil to prevent overwatering. Outdoor: neutral, cool and well-drained soil.

Culturals practices : The perennial sweet pea is a rhizomatous perennial climbing plant that grows in full sun or partial shade. It is cultivated for its foliage and the butterfly type flower clusters. Vigorous growth in normal, neutral, cool and well-drained soil. It can become invasive. There is little maintenance to be expected. Regular watering but without excess will accelerate its growth. Adding fertilizer to flowering plants and removing faded flowers will promote abundant flowering from June to August and limit spontaneous sowing. Beware of snails and slugs which love to devour young plants. The perennial pea is very hardy and tolerates winter temperatures in the order of -25 ° C.
