Plantation : Indoor: Lupines are cold beneficial, but we do recommend vernalizing them for 8–10 weeks at temperatures below 7 °C (45° F). This greatly increases the bud count and uniformity. Indoor sowing: 6 weeks before the last frost. Keep the temperature of the soil around 15-20 °C. Germination time is between 14 and 21 days. Outdoor: Direct sow after last frost.

Soil : Inside: A well-drained, porous sowing media is best to prevent overwatering. Outside: rich organic soil with slight acidity and good drainage.

Culturals practices : Install it alone or in a bed of perennials. Remove the faded flowers, it will rise again in the fall. In addition, you will avoid spontaneous sowing, sometimes invasive, and the premature exhaustion of the plant. Like all legumes, it does not deplete the soil, on the contrary it regenerates them, particularly with nitrogen. Requires consistently moist soil; do not let dry out between watering.Grow Lupins in full sun or light shade. They thrive in cool climates and find it difficult to survive in areas with extremely hot summers. Applying mulch around the root zone will help to keep the roots cool and will protect them over the winter. Deadheading spent flowers will prolong the bloom time, as well as rejuvenate the plants in cool areas. The lupins end up withering away after three to four years.
