Cultivation mode

Plantation : Indoor: Plant in April or 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Maintain the temperature of the seedlings during the day at 20 °C and lower to 15 °C at night.

Soil : Indoor: A well-drained, porous sowing media is best to prevent overwatering. Outdoor: Fresh soil rich in humus.

Culturals practices : Transplant to the garden with a mixture, half garden soil, half compost, in a sunny place, preferably well sheltered from the prevailing winds. Stake the plants in early May, they need strong stakes. Newly established plants require copious watering, then watering at the first sign of wilting, the delphinium dreads moisture. In early spring, spread lime all around the foot; the water from the sprinkling will make the lime penetrate. A fertilizer (15-30-15) once every two weeks from May 15 to August 15. Cut back after flowering the stems below the inflorescence, in some years a second flowering may develop. In the fall cut the plant down to ground level.
