Ridgeline features a good balance of earliness, size and storage. This mid-early onion is globe shaped, mostly jumbo sizing and shows a good dark skin. Ridgeline adapts well for transplants as well as direct seeding. It has intermediate resistance to pink roots and basal rot. Necks are medium to small with excellent curing for long-term storage. A quality addition to the garden.
Green Thumb
Cultural practices : onion seeds should be sown indoors in February.
Soil : they need rich and fertile soil (mineral or organic soil). It should be kept moist but not wet.
Spacing : the row spacing is 35 cm to 38 cm. For larger bulbs, thin out plants to 7cm to 8cm. The removed plants are delicious in salads.
Growing tips : it is recommended to add fertilizer at the start of the crop and again when the bulbs start to swell.
Harvest : harvest the onions when the leaves droop, turn brown and dry out. Drying can be speeded up by folding a few leaves. Once, harvest, put the onions in a dry, warm and well ventilated place. They keep in a cool, dry room.
