Cultivation mode
Plantation : Sow seeds on the surface of a good, free draining, damp seed compost and lightly cover, 3 mm (1/8”) deep with vermiculite or compost. Place containers in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag at a temperature of 25–30 °C (77–86 °F) until after germination which usually takes 10–42 days. A seedling heat mat is the best way to maintain the proper germination temperature.
Soil : sowing: a well-drained, porous sowing media is the best to prevent over watering. Transplantation: slightly acidic, sandy, rich and well-drained soils.
Culturals practices : Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, taking care not to damage the fragile roots, into 7.5 cm (3″) pots. Pot on into a larger container each time roots fill the pot. Water freely between spring and autumn using tepid rainwater where possible and allowing the pot to drain well after each watering. In winter, reduce watering, but do not allow the compost to dry out. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth.
