Dropshot is an annual plant, part of the marigold family, that has insignificant flowers. The foliage has a sweet taste with a strong licorice or anise flavour. Dropshot, globular in shape, branches freely and produces a dense plant of fine, thin and tender leaves which can be used to flavour drinks, tea and food. Also great just chewed on its own.

Plantation : Indoor: Sow in April, in a tray. Cover the seeds with 5 mm of potting soil. Keep moist at a temperature of 20 °C to 25 °C, in the light, rising in 7 to 21 days. Outdoor: transplant after the last frosts.

Soil : Indoor: A well-drained, porous seedling soil is ideal for preventing overwatering. Outdoor: in drained soil with sunny exposure.

Spacing : space 15-20 cm in the row and 20 cm between the rows.

Cultural practices : of undemanding and drought tolerant culture. She likes hot and sunny temperatures, she easily finds her place on a terrace or a balcony. The sun gives it an anise flavor. Remove the first flowers to enjoy the foliage longer.

Harvest : leaves can be cut as needed throughout the summer. For storage, the leafy stems are harvested and hung upside down in a dry place. When dry, the leaves are peeled off the stems and stored in airtight containers. You can also freeze the finely chopped leaves in ice cube trays. Then fill each compartment and cover them with water.
